About Me

Mr. Zachary Bynum is currently a senior Music Education student at the University of North Texas. As a trombonist, Mr. Bynum's performance experiences are varied, including concert bands, jazz bands, jazz combos, orchestras, and brass chamber groups. Starting in January 2023, Mr. Bynum began his student teaching in Aubrey Independent School District (Aubrey, TX) working with students from grades 6-12 alongside his cooperating teachers Chris Davis (MS) and Jason Noyes (HS).

Mr. Bynum is expected to graduate with Summa Cum Laude honors from the University of North Texas, receiving a Bachelor of Music degree in General, Choral, and Instrumental Music with a minor in Computer Education. His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators' Association (TMEA), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA).

He has prior teaching experience working as a marching band technician at Mineola High School (Mineola, TX), contributing to Mineola's third consecutive win at the 2021 AAA State Marching Contest under the direction of Chris Brannan. At Plano Senior High School (Plano, TX), Mr. Bynum worked closely with Directors Jason Lewis and Jacob Diewald, resulting in sweepstakes at the 2022 UIL Area C Marching Contest. His leadership and musical achievements also extend to his high school career; Mr. Bynum was a TMEA All-State trombonist in 2018 and the Head Drum Major of the 800-member Allen Eagle Escadrille (Allen, TX) for the 2018-2019 season. 

In addition to his background in formal music education, Mr. Bynum has much experience working with creative music technologies. Through his music production and songwriting work, Mr. Bynum has garnered over 4.2 million plays on music streaming platforms, landed placements on thousands of independent playlists, and his music has been played live on BBC Radio 1, which averages over 8 million monthly listeners. During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Bynum was in charge of mixing and mastering pre-recorded worship services for Sent Church (Plano, TX), as well as operating the live soundboard during in-person services. He also frequently undertakes audio and video editing projects for his colleagues at the University of North Texas College of Music.
